Admissions to the 1st Year of the 3-Year B.A./ B.Sc. (Honours and Major), Courses of Studies for 2013 will be conducted online only.
All information on admissions will be available shortly on the College Website : www.gokhalecollegekolkata.edu.in.
The admission process will begin after the publication of the W.B.C.H.S.E. Class XII results. Candidates are requested to check the website regularly for updates.

The College offers 3-Year Honours Degree Courses in :
Bengali, Economics, Education, English, Geography, Hindi, History, Mathematics, Philosophy, Physics, Political Science and Psychology -
The 3-Year Major Degree Courses offered by the College are :
- Advertising, Sales Promotion and Sales Management.
- Communicative English.
- Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
There is no provision of admission to Pure General Courses
Admissions to the 1st Year of the 3-Year B.A./B.Sc. (Honours and Major), Courses of Studies for 2013 will be conducted online only.
FORMS DO NOT HAVE TO BE SUBMITTED IN COLLEGE.
A student may apply for more than one Honours or Major subject by filling up separate forms.
Separate payments are to be made for separate subject applications.
Filled-in forms will be validated only after payment is made at the designated bank.
The last date of payment of application fees is 18th June 2013 up to 2.00 pm.
Online Application Payment
Cash payment of application fee should be made at the following banks only :
- State Bank of India, Gokhale Road Branch (from 10.30 am to 3.00 pm, Monday to Friday and 10.30 am to 12.00 Noon, Saturday).
- Indian Overseas Bank, Bhowanipore Branch (from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm, Monday to Friday and 9.30 am to 11.30, Saturday).
Applications may not get validated if payment is made at State Bank of India branches other than the Gokhale Road Branch. Invalid forms will be cancelled.
Outstation candidates can make payment through Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Gokhale Memorial Girls’ College”, payable at Kolkata. The Demand Draft along with both the College Copy and the Bank Copy of the 3-Part Payment Challan and a photocopy of the Registration Card should reach the College by 18th June 2013.
- Extreme care should be taken while filling in the online application forms.
- The candidate must take print of the Registration Card and the 3-Part Payment Slip generated after online submission.
- The 3-Part Payment Slip is to be printed and produced at the Bank while making payment for the online forms.
- Applicant must ensure that the bank writes down her Application Code Number against her name in the bank record.
- After making payment at the bank, the Applicant Part of the Payment Slip is to be preserved carefully and produced at the time of admission along with the Registration Card.
- Payment of application fees on 18th June 2013 in either bank must be made by 2.00 pm sharp.
- The College Help-Desk facility is available only for a few subjects [see previous notices].
Caution :
Candidates must ensure that data entered in their form is correct when they use the College Help-Desk facility for submitting forms. The College shall not be responsible for any errors/omissions that lead to cancellation of forms submitted through the said facility.
If an applicant enters environmental education and environmental studies as subjects in the best four, used for calculation of aggregate percentage, then such an application will be considered invalid even after registration card and payment slips appear after submission and the payment is made to the bank. the college will not be responsible for such invalid form.
A HELP-DESK will be provided at the College premises for candidates who are unable to submit online applications on their own for a few subjects mentioned below. These candidates can avail of the computer facilities in the College from 3rd June 2013 to 10th June 2013 between 10.30 am and 2.00 pm.
The help-desk fee will be Rs. 30/- per application form submitted and payable at the College counter.
This facility will be made available for submission in the following subjects only:
Honours Subjects : Bengali, Education, Hindi, History, Political Science, and Philosophy.
Major Subjects : Advertising, Sales Promotion and Sales Management; Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics.
Caution :
It is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that correct data is entered in her form when she uses the College Help-Desk facility. The College shall not be responsible for any errors and/or omissions found in the forms submitted through the said facility. Incorrectly filled-in forms will be cancelled.
- Successful candidates of Higher Secondary or equivalent examination with the minimum eligibility as specified in University of Calcutta notification No. CSR/54/09 dated 24.11.2009 or subsequent revisions there of and as specified in section 16 of the prospectus are eligible to apply.
- The College will not be responsible if any student, who does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, is mistakenly enrolled because of clerical error during scrutiny of admission forms. In the event of enrolment of a non-eligible candidate the enrolment will stand cancelled whenever it comes to the notice of the college authority.
- Elective English will be offered only to those students who obtain 60% marks in English as a subject.
- Number of seats in all elective subjects are limited. College will have the right to disallow certain combination of elective subjects with the Honours courses.

Special provisions for students Belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
- 22% and 6% of the seats are kept reserved for Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Candidates respectively.
- Calcutta University notification No. CSR/84/2001 dt. 11th April, 2001. "Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Caste or Scheduled Tribe community must have obtained minimum 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subjects or related subjects at the previous qualifying examination."

Step 4 | Paste a passport size photo as indicated on the printed Registration Card. Pay Application Fee of Rs150/- at the designated bank counters within the stipulated date and time. Unpaid application forms will be rejected. |

Salient Points Regarding Application
- Extreme care should be taken while filling in the online application forms.
- Candidates must carefully preserve the print copy of the REGISTRATION CARD that they have obtained after valid submission and get it duly attested.
- Forms do not have to be submitted in college.
The following documents are to be attached with the REGISTRATION CARDS when they are presented during admissions :
- The College Copy of the Payment Slip of Rs. 150/-
- One attested Photo-copy of the Class XII Marksheet.
- One attested Photo-copy of the Admit Card (Madhyamik) / or any document testifying date of birth.
- One attested Photo-copy of the Character Certificate from the Head of the Institution last attended.
- In case of SC/ST candidates – One attested Photo-copy of document certifying SC/ST status of the candidate in her own name seeking admission from the reserved quota.
The following documents should be brought without fail during admission for verification purposes :
- Original Mark Sheet of the Class XII examination (Returnable). Laminated mark sheets will not be accepted.
- Original document proving Date of Birth (Returnable).
- Original Character Certificate (Returnable).
- Original SC/ ST Certificate in the name of the candidate for admission to the reserved category (Certificate in the name of a parent(s)/ relative will NOT be accepted).
- Requisite Admission and Course Fees in cash.
- Medical Certificate of Fitness for compulsory field trips (for Honours & General candidates of Geography Department only)

Education Tour :
Each Geography Honours Student will be required to pay around ` 5,000/- for field trip and provide a declaration from a Medical Practitioner certifying fitness of the student. Each Geography General Course student will be required to pay around ` 3,000/- for field trip and provide a declaration from the Medical Practitioner certifying fitness.
Deposit of Course Fee :
Students will have to deposit the Annual Course Fee & other Fees in A/c. no. 10577672074, of the State Bank of India, Gokhale Road Branch.
Withdrawl :
Security Deposit will be refunded after the completion of the degree Course, within one year from the date of publication of the results. Failure to claim Security Deposits within the stipulated period will lead to forfeiture of the said deposit. Once a student is granted admission in any Subject/Stream in the College, the fees paid by her will not be refunded id she leaves the College for any reason whatsoever.
Identity Card :
Identity Card will be issued to the student by the office. A fine of Rs.50/- will be charged for issuing a duplicate Identity Card.

Geography
For Geography Honours : Students taking up Geography Honours shall give a written undertaking that they are prepared to participate in field excursion anywhere in India, supported by a fitness certificate from a medical practitioner. Attendance in field trip is compulsory as part fulfillment of B.A. / B.Sc. Honours Syllabi of Calcutta University. For Geography General : Geography General will be offered only to students who obtain at least 60% in Geography and at least 50% in aggregate in the previous qualifying examination.
Students taking up Geography General shall give a written undertaking that they are prepared to participate in field excursion anywhere in India; supported by a fitness certificate from a medical practitioner. - Environmental Studies consisting of one paper carrying 100 marks.
